1.31 kg | 12.70 x 9.70 x 8.40 cm XXL Labradorite - sparkling rainbow stone of the Northern Lights Labradorite – powerful, largest skull sculpture in museum size - finely crafted skull of the Nordic polar light - with numerous sparkling colored labradorite inclusions Labradorite, with its colorful iridescence, is regarded by the Inuit as the stone of the Northern Lights and of spirits: Aurora Borealis - the Northern Lights, embodying the souls of the deceased. In Inuit traditions (Canada, Greenland) it is believed that: "The Northern Lights are the souls of the dead, often of warriors, hunters or ancestors, who dance in the sky or play with one another — the souls play ball with a walrus- or skull-bone. The Northern Lights respond to humans: the howling of the Northern Lights means it is coming closer — approaching too closely was considered dangerous — respect for the spirit world must be maintained." Labradorite captures the spirit of the Nordic Lights’ warriors and ancestors. Labradorite is famous for its labradorescence – an optical phenomenon in which light is trapped inside the stone and appears as an inner glow. The effect feels especially mystical and deep. A symbol of the Nordic character of Labradorite, it creates an object of strong presence — calm, cool, archaic, colorfully iridescent.
