Van Cleef & Arpels, Gold and Tiger's Eye Earclips

À propos de l'objet

Though Van Cleef & Arpels is known today as one of the world’s preeminent fine jewelry houses, it began with an unassuming love story between Alfred Van Cleef, son of a stone cutter, and Estelle Arpels, daughter of a precious stone dealer. Following their marriage in 1895, the young couple, along with Estelle’s family, founded the Maison of Van Cleef & Arpels in 1906. In 1925, Van Cleef & Arpels won the Grand Prize at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes for its Rose suite, which included a bracelet and a brooch, propelling the house to international fame. The Rose suite was the first of many innovative and iconic designs. In 1930, the brand invented the minaudière, a small women’s clutch created with the same materials as fine jewelry; and in 1968, they released the first Alhambra necklace, which features the brand’s now iconic quatrefoil motif. Over the course of the 20th century, the brand has expanded to include haute horlogerie, and their watches are some of the most cherished today. With over a century of expertise and reputation, Van Cleef & Arpels has become a name that’s synonymous with exquisite design and unparalleled luxury.
