Check out previous interviews and more about Denial In The 1xNEWs Section In 2000 he adopted the moniker ‘DENIAL’ as a means of poking fun at advertising, politics and media messages that contemporary society is often ‘in denial’ about. Since then he has maintained an ongoing global street-campaign of over 500, 000 stickers, placards and murals, using the alpha-numeric characters ‘D3N!@L’. Intended as a conceptual means of marketing absurdism, DENIAL also challenges traditional notions of graffiti and public art through his bold and often satirical visual subversions. Aerodynamics for Psychonauts - Mars 1

The framing option for this RUN includes a 1 inch black wood frame with UV-glass, foam core backing and ready to hang hardware. ABOUT THE ARTIST, The framing option for this RUN includes a 1 inch black wood frame with UV-glass, foam core backing and ready to hang hardware. ABOUT THE ARTIST Mario Martinez (aka MARS-1) paints from a penetrating perspective of great depth. Viewers are drawn into his imaginative compositions, overflowing with colorful geometric and organic shapes, layered to form unique patterns and textures. The artist signature style of vast, abstracted, quasi-extraterrestrial looking landscapes feature imagery of surreal distortions, contained within spherically convex transparent bubbles. Skillfully combining optical color blending with perspective line work, his painting techniques result in very three-dimensional forms, which echo the anatomy of architecture, and microcosmic structures of biology. Mars-1’s distinctly individual aesthetic is not easily compared to the vision of his contemporaries or artists from past movements. These 3-D qualities transcend into his sculptural work, as well. His constantly evolving process continues to expand with each new series of work, seemingly beyond the reaches of even his own awareness. Themes explored range from very scientific to more esoteric phenomena. From theoretical physics, metamorphosis and collective consciousness, to ufology and examining possibilities of otherworldly principles, the relative link between physical and life sciences are applied throughout. Transitional energies, natural multiplicity, helixes and spontaneous biological occurrences all come together, forming imagery with hypotheses beyond the scope of modern technologyEn savoir plus

The framing option for this RUN includes a 1 inch black wood frame with UV-glass, foam core backing and ready to hang hardware. "I painted this arrow with rollers, latex paint, and spray paint onto an old barn. I think the barn was @ 30 feet wide x 30 feet tall at the pinnacle. The Funny Farm piece started with the help of my friend Denial, who invited me to participate in the Free 4 All Walls project in Canada last month. Denial had organized a massive barn for me to paint for the project. This was the largest arrow I’ve ever painted and most coffee I drank in the duration of 4 days. Tim Horton’s coffee should be illegal." - AboveABOUT THE ARTIST Tavar Zawacki, is a Berlin-based international contemporary artist. Tavar Zawacki was born in California in 1981 and has been creating public art since 1995. Tavar Zawacki is best known for three different styles of street works, his colorful abstract arrow compositions, social, and political stencils, and text-based 'word play' murals. Tavar Zawacki began painting graffiti by tagging 'ABOVE' graffiti on freight trains in California in 1995. At the age of 19, Tavar moved to Paris, France, where he started painting his trademark arrow icon pointing 'above'. During the past 19 years Tavar Zawacki has painted artworks in the streets of over 100 cities in 60 different countries around the world. ABOUT THE ARTISTEn savoir plus

Tipsoo Lake - Standard Edition - Mary Iverson

The framing option for this RUN includes a 1 inch black wood frame with UV-glass, foam core backing and ready to hang hardware. The framing option for this RUN includes a 1 inch black wood frame with UV-glass, foam core backing and ready to hang hardware. This painting features Tipsoo Lake, one of my favorite spots in Mount Rainier National Park. This particular view of the lake is iconic, and it has inspired many a postcard and wall calendar. When I spend time in places like this, I ask myself what would happen if this pristine landscape were invaded by shipping containers. Would anyone even notice? Would they stop to think about what we are doing to the planet, how we are changing the climate with our patterns of consumption? I choose to paint vistas like this not only for their beauty, but because we are blind to so many other parts of the world. If an industrial accident happens in some country we can’t find on the map, we can put it out of our mind. But when tragedy invades our precious postcard views, there is a better chance we will be consciousness of it. My paintings express these ideas, but they are also beautiful in their own right, aside from the concepts behind them. I love the tangle of perspective lines that are scratched into the paint, the rhythm of the flat containers against the complex landscape, and the contrast of the saturated colors next to the earth tones. I also enjoy my research trips to these places, when I spend time hiking, sketching, and taking photographs. All of these aspects of the work keep me engaged in the process and loving what I do." Mary Iverson ABOUT THE ARTIST: Mary Iverson’s paintings portray the clash between globalization and the environment, offering visions of container ships as they collide with national parks in surreal, post apocalyptic scenarios. Her interest in the shipping industry began with observations at the Port of Seattle. Initially, she was drawn to the beauty of the port, but as she began learning more about the growth of the industry, with its enormous trade volumes and huge mega-ships, she wondered about ultimate destination for all of this growth. When this thought process clashed with her identity as an environmentalist, it generated her current body of work. Find more by Mary Iverson here. Standard Edition - Always Remember + Free Mini Print - Glenn Arthur

The framing option for this RUN includes a 1 inch black wood frame with UV-glass, foam core backing and ready to hang hardware. This RUN includes (1) 16 x 20 Inch Edition + (1) Free 2.5 x 3 Inches Mini Print. This RUN is available in Standard + Hand-Embellished Editions + Original Artwork. "This piece is an updated painting of a 10 year old concept. I just realized it had been 10 years since I started painting, and I thought it would be fun to show a side by side progress of my style and skill using the same concept. The original design was done in late 2008 and it was one of the first times I had ever attempted to paint. I had only ever worked in graphite and ink before that. The plants that are surrounding the girl in the painting are actually succulents called aeoniums. I have a pretty big garden full of succulents and these are some of my favorite. The original piece was painted around, and inspired by, the holiday Dia De Los Muertos. My family on my mother’s side are from Mexico, and I’ve always enjoyed the rich and colorful culture. This piece really shows that although my style and skill have progressed, I still pretty much continue to work in the same themes of love, death, nature, and beauty." - Glenn Arthur Read our full interview with Glenn Arthur at News.1xRUN.com... ABOUT THE ARTIST Born in February of 1979, Glenn Arthur grew up in a conservative, religious household with little to no influence in art. After shedding his roots he quickly realized that creating art would be his calling. Although he constantly doodled and sketched throughout his youth, Glenn did not come into painting until his late twenties when a friend forced a paintbrush into his hand and said, “You need to do this!” Since then Glenn has been diligently working on creating his own brand of beautifully painted images. Using all different types of media, he adds in elements and influential symbols of his past and present to each piece. Beyond the aesthetics of his artwork, Glenn brings an overwhelming sense of passion to his paintings. Touching on themes of love, death, conflict and duality, Glenn’s art tells stories of strength and hope through emotion and sentiment with his sensual beauties and signature hummingbirds. Glenn’s artwork has been shown in galleries and museums throughout the United States in solo as well as group shows. His work has been published in several art books and magazines and he currently works as the master of ceremonies for Dr. Sketchy’s Anaheim Chapter. This RUN includes (1) 16 x 20 Inch Edition + (1) Free 2.5 x 3 Inches Mini Print. This RUN is available in Standard + Hand-Embellished Editions + Original Artwork.
