Lee Harvey Oswald Arrest Document With Fascinating Account of Oswald's
A gripping portrayal of the final moments leading up to and including the capture of President John F. Kennedy's assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, as told by the four officers who took Oswald into custody. This souvenir document dated 22 November 1963 is addressed to Dallas Chief of Police J.E. Curry and signed by all four arresting officers: Gerald Hill, Ray Hawkins, Paul Bentley and M.N. McDonald. Letter reads in part, ''...we received information via the police radio that an officer had been shot...There was a pool of blood about two feet north of the squad car in the street...we received additional information that the suspect was in the Texas Theater...Officer McDonald...observed the arrested party sitting in the third seat. As he approached this suspect, the suspect said, 'This is it', and sprang from the seat. Officer McDonald began to grapple with the suspect and the suspect got his hand on a gun that was stuck inside his shirt. As the officer and the suspect wrestled for the gun, the suspect pulled the trigger once and the gun snapped, but did not fire...after a struggle in which the suspect resisted violently he was disarmed and handcuffed...'' British Air Force Booklet Written in Response to the 1936 Arab Revolt
Intriguing publication published by the British Air Force, entitled ''Notes on Tactical Lessons of the Palestine Rebellion, 1936''. Jerusalem: Air Staff, H.Q., Royal Air Force, Palestine & Trans-Jordan, March, 1937. Booklet, marked ''SECRET'', was published in response to the 1936 Arab Revolt, which lasted until 1939 (named ''The Great Arab Revolt'') in part because of the perceived response by the British government to the early insurgency, outlined here. 18pp. booklet gives tactical directives to British pilots in response to the insurgency, described as ''armed bands and saboteurs in hill country and rural districts, directed against the civil organization, armed forces, Jewish interests and road, rail and telegraph communications.'' Air tactics are presented including how to locate and hit the enemy with machine gun and bomb attacks. The last section of the booklet outlines various attacks by Arab groups in Palestine during the summer of 1936. Measures 8.25'' x 13''. First page detached from two brads binding the document. Two Original Unpublished Photographs From 1891, Shortly After the
Two original unpublished albumen prints from 1891, taken by Northwestern Photo Co. of Chadron, Nebraska, whose outfit is well known for documenting the aftermath of the Wounded Knee massacre. At least one of the photos was taken on the 4th of July 1891 by photographer Clarence Moreledge near the Pine Ridge Agency, showing Sioux engaged in an Omaha Dance. The other shows a tipi encampment of mothers and their children. Both photos are numbered in the negative. Photos measure 7'' x 4.25'', affixed to an album mat measuring 10'' x 7''. Some buckling and staining to mat. Teepee photograph is a bit light, overall in very good condition.En savoir plus
