Details:Ricardo Gonzalez about his collection: “ ‘Souvenir de no-lugar’ is inspired by the concept of ‘no-lugar’ (‘non-place’), a term coined by the anthropologist Marc Augé in his 1993 book Non places. Spaces of anonymity. Anthropology of modernity; where he refers to non-places as transitory places, such as highways, hotel rooms, supermarkets ... spaces that ultimately provide a service to the inhabitant of the modern world. Parting from this premise, I take pictures of these places during my travels. Later in my studio, I deconstruct the images during the painting process, abstracting the subject through the use of patterns that refer to the mechanical repetition that involves these places, suggesting that the transitory character of theses places drives to an unconscious automatism. If such non-places serve us to reach our destination, to regain our souvenir or memento, now the medium itself (the transitory places) becomes the destination or the purpose or the message; as Marshall McLuhan would say, itself is becoming the souvenir. From this new understanding, the roles are reversed; the painting in itself is now established as a non-place, through which paradoxically it is shed of its long tradition, eluding its anguished nature to return to reality with a revived new look, recording, assimilating and expressing the changes of contemporary human life, by providing a service to it." Ricardo's paintings are made with acrylic, oil paint and enamel on canvas or wood on canvas. Each is signed by the artist and includes a certificate of authenticity. All artworks are shipped directly from the artist and are in perfect condition.En savoir plus

3 Azules y Sol Naranja

Details:In the series "Faces are all around me", Jimmy focuses on the depiction of minimalist portraits, where he seeks to capture the essence of the faces stored in his memory. Through the collage technique, the artist sketches his vision of the face, then he shapes these sketches and, later, he composes the final work. The artist goes beyond figuration in order to capture the emotions that emerge from the visages he once witnessed. Jimmy manages to recompose their features stored in his mind through the collage technique, without losing the expressiveness of his characters. Jimmy Millan: "Throughout our lives we meet a wide amount of people (family, friends, teachers, couples, etc.) who leave an effect on us and, although we sometimes forget their faces, we do not forget how they made us feel. In an emotional journey to perpetuate my memories I had the impulse to create portraits that, despite their simplicity, contain complex realities, which I intend to transmit to the viewer. The titles of my artworks are often generic, so I do not condition the observer’s interpretation, because each person can evoke a different feeling or memory and I think that the magic of this series lies on that". Handmade collage made with paper and acrylic on paper. 2 Framing options: Artwork can be sold either mounted in a standard wooden frame (black or white) or mounted in an original vintage frame, chosen by the artist. (No additional cost apply) Mount and frame shown are examples only. We will contact you post-purchase in regards of frame choice. All of Jimmy's works are original and come with a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist. The works are in perfect condition and will be sent directly from the artist's studio.En savoir plus

Untitled (Diptych), from the series "Light Surface"

Details:According to the artist, her work is placed "on the limits between the photographic and the pictorial practice, between the analogue world and the virtual world". Her pieces usually do not have a title, just a small reference to their process of creation. As it happens in contemporary photographic practices, the artist does not only conceive her works individually, but also as projects composed by sets of images, that lead us to a specific artistic language. The apparent mixture between painting and photography allows her to continue investigating this rarely explored practice and to obtain unexpected results that allow her to continue nursing her particular creative process. Diptych, 2-piece work. Prints with pigmented inks on photographic gloss paper, protective UV matte lamination, on 2 mm dibond and wooden mount, for a floating impression of the work (as seen in pictures). Dibond mounting is a professional, exhibition quality mounting solution, which consist of a dark plastic core with a thin layer of aluminum coated on each side. It is lightweight, protects the work from bending and UV damage, while the wood mount in the back gives the work depth and a floating impression. Esther’s photographic works are limited editions of only 5 prints. All works are numbered and signed and come with a signed certificate of authenticity. Delivery in perfect condition, directly from the artist’s studio.En savoir plus
